Questions & Answers

How do I get to the bridge?

From the Klause parking lot, follow the signposts. You will reach the ‘highline179’ bridge portal on the side of the Ehrenberg castle ruins in a leisurely 20-minute walk. It is a forest path that climbs gently from the Klause (valley) up to highline179 (mountain). Sturdy footwear and possibly Nordic walking poles are recommended for the ascent.

Where can I park?

highline179 itself has no parking spaces. You can park in the Klause below highline179 in the parking lots of Burgenwelt Ehrenberg (attention: paid parking €5, as of 27/03/2023).

Free parking is available at Waldrastlift (Krankenhausstrasse, 6600 Ehenbichl) with a subsequent hike (approx. 20 min) down to the Klause.

Or at Karlift (Karlift 1a, 6611 Heiterwang) with a subsequent hike to the Klause (approx. 30 min).

Where can I get a ticket for highline179?

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket machine (family and adult tickets) directly at the bridge daily from 08:00 to 22:00. Or directly in the online shop (adult and group tickets only).

Can I return my ticket if I change my mind?

Tickets that have already been purchased cannot be returned. But there's no reason to be upset—the tickets are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

How often can I use my ticket?

Your ticket can be used once at each of the two bridge portals (Ehrenberg castle ruins and Fort Claudia). Leaving the bridge area is possible at any time even without a ticket.

Where can I find public restrooms?

Free restrooms are only available up at the EhrenbergLiner mountain station near highline179. For the restrooms at the valley station (Klause), Burgenwelt Ehrenberg charges a fee of €1 (as of 27/03/2023).

Are dogs allowed on the suspension bridge?

Dogs are very welcome and may of course accompany you across highline179 free of charge. Please note that the walkway consists of steel grating, which can hurt your dog’s paws. We therefore recommend dog boots or carrying your pet across the bridge.

Can I reach the bridge with a stroller?

Yes, the uphill path can be managed with a stroller. However, your stroller should have a hand brake and pneumatic tires to ensure a safe descent.

It is not possible to take the stroller onto the bridge because the walkway is only 1.2 m wide. There are many parking areas at the portals. No liability can be accepted for items left there.

Can I take my luggage onto the bridge?

It is not possible to take child carriers, large backpacks, etc. onto the bridge, as they do not fit through the turnstile. Storage options are available at the portals. No liability can be accepted for items left there.

Can I reach the bridge as a wheelchair user?

Since 2019, highline179 has been accessible barrier-free. The ascent up to the Hornwerk is possible via the EhrenbergLiner inclined lift (attention: fee required). From the EhrenbergLiner mountain station, you can reach highline179 via an accessible path in just a few minutes. There is a separate barrier-free entrance for wheelchair users.

Can I drive/ride across the bridge?

It is not possible to cross the bridge with vehicles of any kind. The only exception is for wheelchair users.

What is the Tibetan style?

The Tibetan style is a slim, self-supporting construction that can be set swinging even by a single person.
